Tony Schiavone Refutes Rumours Of AEW Unrest
Tony Schiavone has hit out at “bullsh*t people on the internet” over reports that all is not well behind the scenes in AEW.
Recently, there has been a marked increase in reports claiming there is tension in the AEW. This seemingly spilt out onto TV on the August 17th episode of Dynamite when CM Punk apparently went off script and made digs at Hangman Adam Page.
There were then further reports suggesting that the situation with a number of top stars had become worse in the last few weeks. Some of these stars were even said to be “close to breaking point” if things weren’t sorted out.
AEW announcer Tony Schiavone is caught in the middle of the alleged issues as he was promoted to Senior Producer and Special Advisor to Talent on August 3rd, meaning that he works directly with the wrestlers in the company.
On a recent edition of his ‘What Happened When’ podcast, Schiavone said that he was enjoying his new responsibilities while admitting that there were challenges.
“(I) enjoy my job, enjoy my new responsibilities with the company. They are challenging, but those are challenges that I readily accepted when I took the job. I’m seeing a whole new part of wrestling and wrestlers that I didn’t see before.”
He then took the opportunity to speak out against the claims of locker room disquiet, saying that things aren’t even close to as bad as has been claimed.
“There are some challenges, as you know, and of course the internet is going crazy about this or that. I’m not going to get into it because…I’m going to say this right now, things are not as bad as bullshit people on the internet would say. Not even close to it. We’ve got some things in place now that I think are going to make us better than ever.”
