What Was Tony Khan’s Reaction To Cody Rhodes’ AEW Exit?

Cody Rhodes and Tony Khan

AEW star Arn Anderson has discussed how he thinks Tony Khan feels about Cody Rhodes and what his reaction to Rhodes’ departure from his company was.

In February 2022, the wrestling world was shocked when Cody and Brandi Rhodes both announced in a carefully choreographed way that they were leaving AEW. Both had been instrumental in the company’s formation with Cody Rhodes named as one of the Executive Vice Presidents of the new promotion alongside The Young Bucks and Kenny Omega while Brandi acted as AEW’s Chief Brand Officer.

At WrestleMania 38, it emerged where Cody Rhodes’ future lay as he appeared as Seth Rollins’ surprise opponent on the show. This led to a trilogy of matches between the two men with Rhodes picking up a clean sweep over Rollins.

An injury stopped The American Nightmare in his tracks but he picked up where he left off at the 2023 Royal Rumble as he won the men’s Rumble match and will now face Roman Reigns in the main event of WrestleMania 39 for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship.

Speaking on his ARN podcast, Arn Anderson – the man who used to second Rhodes to the ring in AEW – gave his brief thoughts on Tony Khan’s reaction to Rhodes’ departure:

“I think Tony Khan has no ill will towards Cody or vice versa. It’s just one of those things that happens.”

Tony Khan may have a fight on his hands to keep another of his top stars in AEW with Kenny Omega said to be “open-minded” about a switch to WWE.
