Tony Khan Asked About WWE & TNA; Refuses To Mention Either

Tony Khan AEW Media Scrum

Tony Khan hasn’t given much thought to WWE’s new relationship with TNA.

After Jordynne Grace appeared at the 2024 Royal Rumble all went quiet regarding the relationship between WWE and TNA. However, following Grace’s appearance in NXT, and talk of WWE stars heading to TNA Against All Odds, the partnership has had a massive impact on the wrestling landscape.

Furthermore, WWE is now working with Marigold, and will shortly be linking up with Pro Wrestling NOAH.

Despite this, AEW boss Tony Khan appears unconcerned. With Forbidden Door just around the corner, Khan was asked by Scott Fishman of TV Insider for his thoughts on the link-up between WWE and TNA. In response, Khan talked up his own company’s links with NJPW, Stardom, and CMLL.

Since we launched AEW we’ve been looking to work with great wrestling companies across the planet. The relationship with New Japan Pro Wrestling developed in 2021 and built to the point where we teamed to do a co-branded event like Forbidden Door. We’re approaching the third one.

It’s a whole new level of great cooperation between wrestling promotions to see the stars of CMLL and Stardom in addition to the great wrestlers from New Japan Pro Wrestling competing with AEW stars.

I’m always open to working with great wrestling promotions all over the world. It feels like the spirit of cooperation in worldwide pro wrestling is greater than it has ever been, which is a big positive.

Seeing the top stars of AEW go to Tokyo and compete at Wrestle Kingdom, I think that the fans can always count on AEW and New Japan to put on great collaborations. I think this year’s Forbidden Door will be one of the strongest shows any promotion will put anywhere in the world.

Tony Khan Offers No Comment On Ricochet

During the same interview, Tony Khan was asked about Ricochet with the high-flying star set to leave WWE. However, the AEW boss decided it was wise to give little away, commenting he’d rather not discuss wrestlers still under contract elsewhere.

Although he’s yet to officially leave the company, it’s widely believed Ricochet was written off WWE television on Raw via an attack from Bron Breakker. The star is expected to walk away from WWE when his contract expires, with AEW in pole position to secure his signature.
