Tony Khan Responds To WWE Counter-Programming AEW
Tony Khan was asked about WWE countering AEW All In with two events of its own.
On July 12, AEW will hold its biggest event of the year at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas. All In is set to be another banner event for the company with all of its major titles on the line, including highly anticipated matches for both the men’s and women’s World Championships.
In response, WWE announced NXT Great American Bash and Saturday Night’s Main Event would take place on the same day. All women’s Premium Live Event, Evolution, is also set to take place 24 hours later.
Tony Khan Isn’t Looking At WWE
During an interview with WFAA to promote All In, Tony Khan was asked about WWE taking steps to counter-program the event. However, Khan was in a diplomatic mood, only commenting that his focus was on putting on the best AEW show he could.
“Well, I think we’re going to put on a great event, and we have to focus on putting on the best event we can with the best wrestlers in the world. So that’s a lot of fun. So we’re going to have a great show next Saturday afternoon, and we’re very focused on what AEW is doing, and AEW fans, and I think that’s served us really well.”
In the build-up to the show, Tony Khan confirmed that the gate for All In has already surpassed $2.5 million, and will pass $3 million by the big night. Those figures represent a company record. The most recent update from WrestleTix, the event has sold over 20,000 tickets.
