Tony Khan Was Legitimately Upset By WWE Star’s Wife’s Remarks

Rusev is seemingly in Tony Khan’s bad books after his wife’s 2022 remarks.

Rusev, fka Miro, was on the AEW roster from 2020 to 2025 after being released from WWE.

In 2022, he was out of action, during which his wife, CJ Perry, made controversial comments. During an appearance on 92.7 WMAY, she said that the character of Rusev would never die.

She added that everyone eventually returns to WWE, and this comment apparently ticked Tony Khan off.

Perry recalled the aforementioned incident during a recent interview with TMZ’s Inside The Ring.

I needed to plead the Fifth because I was doing too many interviews to make him go viral. And then Tony Khan would call him and be pissed (…) We do a 6 a.m. radio interview in Wisconsin. This is like nothing on media, this is just a little phoner, you know, 5:45 for like North Dakota. I love North Dakota. And next thing you know, it’s going trending on Twitter for four days.

And Rusev returns. Not Mero at AEW, but Rusev. And it’s because they asked me, ‘Do you think he will ever return to the Royal Rumble?’ And I’m like, ‘Everyone returns to the WWE.’ But I’m sorry. Like, and then the funny thing is Mero’s like, ‘She’s just a parrot. She just repeats what I say.’ And it’s true.

Tony Khan Praised For Treatment Of AEW Talent

A WWE Hall of Famer, who has also worked with AEW President Tony Khan, praised 43-year-old for the way his treated his promotion’s roster.

During a recent interview with Casino Beats, “Nature Boy” Ric Flair was all praise for Khan.

Tony Khan is a really great guy. The guys over in AEW are great. Wrestling is in a good place right now. I can’t say enough good things about him.

He is fantastic, and he is just a total gentleman, and I think he legitimately cares about everybody. They’re not just a number to him.

I think he legitimately cares about everybody that works for him.
