AEW President Tony Khan says he wants to see refereeing in the company “tightened up” after a series of matches on Dynamite Grand Slam had dubious results.

Tony Khan took to social media to make his comments on the standard of officiating in his company while also congratulating head referee Paul Turner on his one hundredth main event in the company.

Khan wrote:

“Congrats @RefTurnerAEWon refereeing 100 AEW main events! As Senior Official, Paul manages our refs, who do great work, but missed some illegalities in the first few bouts last night I know we can count on Paul, I’m asking him to tighten it up, starting tomorrow on #AEWRampage!”

At Dynamite Grand Slam in New York City, several matches came to their conclusion with illegal happenings taking place behind the referee’s backs. In the opening contest, Aubrey Edwards missed a low blow delivered by Chris Jericho to Claudio Castagnoli that allowed him to hit the Judas Effect and capture the Ring of Honor World Championship.

The AEW Tag Team Championship also changed hands in controversial circumstances after Billy Gunn nailed Swerve Strickland with a Fameasser on the outside of the ring that ultimately allowed The Acclaimed to capture the title. There was controversy too in the All-Atlantic Championship match when PAC nailed Orange Cassidy with the bell hammer unseen by referee Bryce Remsburg to pick up the win.
