Tony Khan Issues Update After Top AEW Star Suffers Injury

AEW President Tony Khan

Tony Khan has some news.

Brody King and Bandido found themselves working together in July as they entered the World Tag Team Eliminator Tournament. Despite competing against several more established teams, the pair beat Bobby Lashley and Shelton Benjamin at Forbidden Door to claim the gold.

Since then, Brodido has become one of the most popular acts in the entire company, but that momentum could be about to come to a halt.

On October 3, Bandido headed back to CMLL to defend his ROH World Championship against Hechicero. Although the champion retained the gold, he dislocated his shoulder during the action, but thankfully, it popped back into place.

Despite that, some feared Bandido might be out of action, which would include missing his tag team Double Jeopardy Match with King against Konosuke Takeshita and Kazuchika Okada on the October 7 edition of Dynamite. If Okada or Takeshita grabs the win, they’ll earn a shot at the Tag Team Titles, but if King or Bandido gets the pin, they’ll earn a shot at Okada’s Unified Title.

Tony Khan Shares Bandido Update

After the show, Brody King was quick to jump on social media, telling Bandido he needs to tape his shoulder up and push through because they’ve got work to do. Tony Khan then dived in to reveal that he’s spoken to the injured star and he’s determined to keep pushing.

I talked to him this morning! He said that he wants to power through it + wrestle on Tuesday!

As well as airing on Tuesday, Dynamite will also run for two and a half hours, as it did for the 6th anniversary episode a week earlier.
