AEW Worlds End saw the stunning returns of Kenny Omega and Adam Copeland, while Kazuchika Okada won the Continental Classic. Elsewhere, there were wins for the likes of Jon Moxley, Mariah May, Mercedes Mone, and MJF.
Tony Khan Impressed By Strength Of Wrestling Business
During the post-Worlds End media scrum, Khan discussed AEW and WWE going head-to-head, explaining that the fact the two shows pulled in strong crowds proves the wrestling industry as a whole is in good health.
“It’s great for the city of Orlando with two major pro wrestling events happening on the same night. There were thousands and thousands of fans at both shows. We had a capacity crowd here. It was so great being here at UCF. This arena has been a tremendous host at the Addition Financial Arena, and for us and the community, it was great to have such amazing support from the fans.
It shows how strong worldwide pro wrestling, particularly here in the United States, is to have in one major American city with two promotions running head-to-head on the same night, to have two great crowds. I know our fans here were awesome, and it was a great show tonight, thanks to the Orlando fans. They were tremendous.”
Meanwhile, it’s been reported that Tony Khan continues to back his controversial decision to air footage of the All In scuffle between CM Punk and Jack Perry. The pair famous got into an altercation backstage at Wembley Stadium, which resulted in Punk being fired, and Perry being suspended.
According to the report, Khan believes the decision to air the footage in April helped AEW land its huge media rights deal with Warner Bros Discovery.
