Tony Khan Pays Tribute To “Remarkable” AEW Original
Tony Khan has addressed the role of a veteran AEW wrestler who is a vital part of the locker room.
The last time Darby Allin had a match in AEW was over five months ago, in December 2024, as part of the Continental Classic tournament. Allin started with AEW in the company’s first year in 2019 and he was on the roster before the first show at Double or Nothing 2019.
While AEW might not use some wrestlers for months simply due to creative issues, in Allin’s case, he had a good excuse. Allin’s excuse is that he climbed Mount Everest and amazingly reached the top earlier this week. Not only did Allin climb Mount Everest, but he kept his promise by planting an AEW flag at the top.
Since Allin has been away, some AEW critics have felt he was selfish because Tony Khan and the company need Allin to be one of the top babyfaces in the promotion. Many fans wanted Allin to be the wrestler who dethrones Jon Moxley for the AEW World Title, especially since Allin has never won.
Tony Khan is AEW’s President, CEO & General Manager who runs everything in the company, including the creative direction. While speaking on the Double or Nothing media conference call, Khan spoke about how proud he is of Allin.
“Darby Allin is one of the greatest wrestlers in AEW, and we’re incredibly proud of what he’s accomplished.
Climbing Mount Everest was a major goal for him, and he did it. He set out on this journey with two clear objectives — the climb itself, which demanded total focus, and becoming the first pro wrestler, and one of the first pro athletes, to reach the summit.
It’s an extraordinary feat, and something truly worth celebrating.”
Tony Khan Is Ready For Darby Allin To Make AEW Return
There is no update on when Darby Allin may return to AEW television, but Tony Khan has made it clear that the company will be thrilled when they have Allin back in the ring.
“Darby is a remarkable person. He loves AEW, and the fans love him. He’s a vital part of our locker room, and we’re all looking forward to his safe return.
“I can’t wait to welcome him back. Whenever he’s ready, we’ll be thrilled to have him.”
During his AEW career so far, Darby Allin is a two-time TNT Champion and a Tag Team Champion with Sting.
