Tony Khan To “Look Into” CM Punk Claims

CM Punk Tony Khan

Tony Khan is investigating comments made by CM Punk.

In the lead-up to WrestleMania 40, CM Punk gave an explosive interview where he criticised AEW, Tony Khan, Jack Perry, and others. As well as suggesting that AEW isn’t a “real business” and Khan isn’t a proper boss, Punk claimed he was forced to pay for his own medical care after suffering a torn triceps at All Out 2022.

Punk said his recovery from the same injury, this time suffered at the Royal Rumble would be quicker as he’s been given more support by WWE than AEW.

During a media call ahead of AEW Dynasty, Tony Khan was asked about Punk’s claims by Brandon Thurston.

“We typically do pay those expenses. I’d have to look into that. I can’t say for sure. It doesn’t sound right to me. If that is the case, I would reimburse him, honestly. I didn’t think that was the case and it doesn’t sound right, so I would have to look into that. Typically, we do cover those medical expenses, especially for something that occurred in the ring, as that did, so I would have to look into that. I can’t say for sure,”

Tony Khan Praised By TBS After Airing CM Punk Fight Footage

Elsewhere on the call, the AEW boss was asked about fan reaction to his decision to air footage of the backstage fight at All In between Punk and Jack Perry. Tony Khan responded by saying TBS had given him a “well done” call, and that keeping the network happy is his priority.

“After the ratings came in, it felt like, when TBS called me and told me ‘good job.’ You have to remember, I’m responsible for everybody’s job in the company. It is really important for us to please the network and TBS was really happy with that show and that performance.”

The comments come shortly after Tony Khan defended showing the fight in a different interview, claiming it added to the upcoming match between FTR and The Young Bucks.
