Tony Khan Taking Ring Of Honor To Iconic Venue
Tony Khan has big plans for Ring of Honor.
In recent weeks there’s been a feeling of a shift within Ring of Honor as Chris Jericho was crowned World Champion with a win over Mark Briscoe. Jericho is the biggest international name to hold the championship since the company was purchased by Tony Khan.
This was followed by a report that suggested the change might have been part of a wider strategy. It was claimed “negotiations are close” regarding a TV deal for ROH and Jericho will be a figurehead to move the brand into a new era.
Meanwhile, it’s now been reported by Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp and Mat Men Radio’s Andrew Zarian that ROH will be returning to the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York for Final Battle. There’s no word on when the show will take place, but it will mark the first time the company has been back to the venue since 2019.
ROH has been closely linked with the Hammerstein Ballroom in the past, having held events there for years before Tony Khan took charge.
Tony Khan Is An “Awesome Billionaire”
While Tony Khan is making moves for ROH, he’s recently been praised by AEW star Mercedes Mone for his approach to running both companies. Mone said Khan is an “awesome billionaire” for how he treats everyone backstage.
Khan announced his purchase of ROH from the Sinclair Broadcast Group in March 2022.
