Why Tony Khan Stayed Silent On AEW/Jon Moxley Lawsuit

AEW finds itself in the middle of legal heat following an incident that occurred during a 2023 episode of Dynamite.

The issue stems from a May broadcast where Jon Moxley, while caught in the chaos of a match against Kenny Omega, allegedly shoved Christopher Dispensa to the ground. Dispensa claims the fall caused neck and shoulder injuries, and earlier this year, in June, he officially filed a lawsuit against AEW.

The suit alleges negligence, civil assault, and battery, all tied to that single episode of Dynamite. What’s more, the case now faces procedural hurdles, as AEW recently filed to move the lawsuit to federal court. Judge Matthew Leitman has reportedly asked the company to strengthen its case for that move.

Tony Khan Comments On Legal Matter

During the AEW All In Texas media call, company president Tony Khan broke his silence, but only to a point. While asked about the lawsuit, Khan remained tight-lipped on specifics, citing legal protocol.

“I definitely can’t comment on pending litigation,” Khan stated. “In this case, we really do care about the safety of everybody here, whether it’s the talent, fans, or people working backstage, in the truck, around the ring, the production team, and we all work together. That is first and foremost.”

He continued, “It’s a family of wrestlers, staff, and fans all working together to make these shows great 52 weeks a year. We all need each other. Beyond that, I can’t comment much on pending litigation.” [H/T Fightful]

Tony Khan’s careful approach is standard in such situations, especially when AEW is still actively navigating the legal process. The company’s next steps may depend on whether the court allows the case to proceed at the federal level.
