Tony Khan Reveals Chris Jericho’s AEW Status Amid WWE Speculation
Tony Khan has explained why Chris Jericho continues to be absent from AEW as rumours ramp up about a return to WWE.
The last time AEW fans saw Chris Jericho in action was back at Dynasty in April, when he lost the ROH World Championship to Bandido. The longer Jericho has been absent from the company, the more speculation has built that he could be set for a surprise return to WWE.
Chris Jericho poured fuel on that fire when he recently claimed TNA looked like the 2nd biggest promotion in the world with their recent Bound For Glory show while taking shots at AEW’s own events held in the old ECW Arena.
But what is really going on with the first-ever AEW World Champion?
Chris Jericho Still In AEW…For Now
Speaking on The Ariel Helwani Show, Tony Khan noted Jericho is still part of his company but remained tight-lipped on how much longer that will be the case:
Chris Jericho is somebody who is in AEW. He’s been away from us for a bit…I love Chris personally and professionally. I just reached out and wished him a happy birthday recently.
Khan would not be drawn on when Jericho could be back in AEW and claimed that the star’s absence simply comes down to working out dates between them:
I love having Chris in AEW, and the door’s always open. [His absence] comes down to working out the dates.
