Tony Khan Discusses Returns Of Britt Baker And Jamie Hayter
Tony Khan can’t wait to have Britt Baker and Jamie Hayter back in action.
Britt Baker hasn’t wrestled in AEW since being beaten by Kris Statlander back in mid-September. Following the launch of the company in 2019, Baker became the first female star signed by promotion and quickly became a mainstay on Dynamite.
However, during her absence, AEW has changed considerably, with Mercedes Mone taking her spot as the top woman in the company.
During an interview with Raj Prashad of Uproxx Sports, Khan gave an update on the star but steered clear of any real details. The AEW boss said he’s looking forward to having Baker back “in the mix very soon.”
“Dr. Britt Baker is one of our original stars and she’s been out injured for an extended period of time. I’m very eager to get Britt back here. She’s somebody that’s been part of AEW all along. And we’d love to have her back in the mix very soon,”
In her absence, Britt Baker has been pictured training with a WWE Hall of Famer.
During the interview, Khan also discussed the status of Jamie Hayter. The former Women’s Champion has now been out of action for over a year, having last wrestled at Double or Nothing in 2023. Shortly after it was confirmed she was stepping away from the ring, it was revealed there was no timetable for her return. According to Khan, a timetable for her return is still “pending.”
“Her longtime friend, and also a former AEW Women’s world champion Jamie Hayter has also been out for an extended period of time with injury. Jamie Hayter’s timetable is still pending. But I think having Jamie Hayter back in AEW would be fantastic. And I would love to have Jamie Hayter back working in AEW anytime and whenever she’s healthy and capable of doing it would be great for us.”
Tony Khan Hoping To Have Ricky Starks Back In AEW
During a different interview, Tony Khan said he would love to have Ricky Starks back in AEW as he’s a tremendous talent.
Despite repeatedly insisting he isn’t injured, Starks hasn’t wrestled in AEW since teaming with Big Bill to take on Top Flight on the March 30th edition of Collision. During a recent interview, Starks said he had “no clue” when he’d be back on television, commenting that the situation is out of his control.
