Tony Khan Responds To Criticism Regarding FTR

Tony Khan has responded to complaints and criticism regarding FTR not competing in a tag match on AEW programming over four months.

Many fans consider FTR the best tag team in AEW and possibly the world. They have been #1 in AEW’s own internal tag team rankings and currently hold and defend three different sets of tag titles. And yet Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler have not been in a traditional two-on-two tag match on Dynamite – AEW’s flagship show – since May. This has led many fans to speculate that there’s something holding FTR down or that they’re not being used to their fullest.

Speaking to Comicbook.com, Tony Khan has addressed these concerns and explained why FTR aren’t in the tag team mix on his company’s most important show:

“FTR have wrestled as singles. They have had some trios and, of course, have had a number of pay-per-view matches in that time, both in Ring of Honor and in AEW. But I think we could look to see them in tag action and maybe defending some of those tag team titles that they hold.”

“They hold three different tag team championships in companies that we all have affiliations with, across Ring of Honor, New Japan Pro-Wrestling, and Lucha Libre AAA. And certainly, I’ve been instrumental in organizing their bookings overseas and with Ring of Honor, where I also do the bookings.”

Khan went on to suggest that FTR is being used to strengthen working relationships with other promotions as cross-promotional wrestlers while others maintain AEW’s own tag team division.
