Tony Khan Asked Permission For Special AEW Dynamite Moment

Sting went back to the future on his final episode of Dynamite as an AEW star when he descended from the rafters to surprise The Young Bucks.

The final Dynamite before Revolution was also the final Dynamite in the career of Sting as The Icon takes part in his final match in Greensboro, North Carolina. Sting and Darby Allin will defend the AEW Tag Team Championship against The Young Bucks and the EVPs spent much of Dynamite looking for the WWE Hall of Famer.

The Bucks got their wish later on as they first came across Darby Allin in a Sting mask but they got the better of the TNT Champion before bringing Ric Flair to the ring. Flair had caused some worry about his intentions after meeting with The Bucks the prior week but the dirtiest player in the game proved to be just that as he scratched the eyes and punched The Bucks before receiving a low blow.

That brought out Sting who descended from the rafters as he had done so many times before in WCW. Nicholas Jackson received the Scorpion Death Drop for his trouble before The Young Bucks were forced to retreat as the show went off the air.

Tony Khan Asked Permission For Sting Entrance

Fightful Select has given more information on Sting’s special entrance on Dynamite which saw him descend from the rafters for the first time since 2007 when did so at TNA Slammiversary.

The report also noted that Tony Khan had actually asked Martha Hart for her blessing for the spot which she gave and that is why the entrance happened as it did.

Hart is the widow of Owen Hart and he sadly passed away in May 1999 when a similar entrance went tragically wrong and saw Hart plummet to his death in the ring.

Tony Khan has forged a relationship with Martha Hart to honour Owen Hart which has seen the introduction of the annual Owen Hart Foundation tournaments. The 2023 editions of those tournaments culminated in wins for Ricky Starks and Willow Nightingale in Hart’s hometown of Calgary, Alberta, Canada.
