Tony Khan Admits He Could Make Permanent Change To AEW PPV Schedule
Tony Khan is looking to the future.
AEW All Out was another stacked event, despite the company missing several top names such as Kenny Omega, Will Ospreay, Swerve Strickland, Jay White, and more.
In the main event, “Hangman” Adam Page successfully defended the World Championship after a war with Kyle Fletcher, while “Timeless” Toni Storm’s incredible run with the Women’s World Championship came to an end.
The event also saw the surprise return of Jack Perry, who reunited with former tag team partner Killswitch.
Tony Khan Could Make Changes
Heading into the event, it was announced that All Out would be starting earlier than originally scheduled to avoid going head-to-head with WWE Wrestlepalooza. The clash was orchestrated by WWE as the company continues to counter AEW programming.
Despite AEW’s hand being somewhat forced, many have praised the switch to afternoon (In North America) pay-per-views.
During the post-All Out press conference, Tony Khan was asked about the change by Davey Portman of Poisonrana, and he admitted that it could become permanent.
“It’s definitely something to think about, especially on Saturdays with the way the schedule works and what we’re doing. I do think there is something to it,” Khan said. “It’d be something to consider on some of the Sundays. It’s been tremendous for three straight pay-per-views. It’s something I would take into consideration”.
Khan added that the change has given a boost to fans in the United Kingdom, as it means events start much earlier in the evening, rather than in the early hours of the morning.
“It’s the third straight pay-per-view with an early start time on the East Coast and in the prime time in the UK, and we’ve had great results in the UK. That’s a huge consideration to us, and that’s a big part of it. Whether it’s Saturday or Sunday, it’s something to think about.”
AEW’s next pay-per-view offering will be WrestleDream on October 18 from St. Louis, Missouri.
