Jay Briscoe

Tony Khan has paid a special tribute to Jay Briscoe on a special anniversary for the AEW boss.

The wrestling world was left in mourning in January 2023 when the news broke that Jamin Pugh – best known as Jay Briscoe – had passed away following a car accident.

Following his brother’s passing, Mark Briscoe began to appear on AEW television, vowing to carry on for his brother and continue their wrestling legacy. Together, the Briscoes had dominated tag team wrestling over the last two decades in Ring of Honor, capturing the ROH Tag Team Championship 13 times.

Mark Briscoe has certainly one his brother proud in AEW, becoming one of the most popular stars on the entire roster and the lynchpin of The Conglomeration. Briscoe claimed gold for himself when he defeated Kyle Fletcher for the TNT Title. But Jay Briscoe is never far from everyone’s thoughts.

3 years ago tonight was the last time that I saw my friend, the late great Jamin Pugh, aka Jay Briscoe. He was an incredible wrestler in the ring + an incredible man out of the ring, and he’s missed every day by his countless friends and his amazing family! RIP Jamin.

The Briscoes defeated FTR in a Double Dog Collar match for the ROH Tag Team Championship at Final Battle to bring their historic trilogy of matches to an end.
