Tony Khan Reveals Mercedes Martinez Is Out With An Injury
Although other ROH champions have been added to the AEW All Out card, Mercedes Martinez – the ROH Women’s World Champion – won’t be competing for the foreseeable future.
AEW All Out 2022 is just two sleeps away, with a number of Ring Of Honor champions scheduled for the card. Claudio Castagnoli and Wheeler YUTA, the World and Pure Champions, respectively, will enter the latest Casino Ladder match, while ROH World Tag Team Champions FTR will team with Wardlow against Jay Lethal and The Motor City Machine Guns.
Mercedes Martinez, who has reigned as the ROH Women’s World Champion for the past few months, won’t be anywhere near the card, though, as she’s currently sidelined with an undisclosed injury. Tony Khan confirmed the news during the pre-All Out media call:
“Mercedes Martinez, the Women’s World Champion of Ring Of Honor, is actually out with an injury, but will be back soon. A lot of the other Ring of Honor world champions are represented on this card.”
Samoa Joe, the ROH World Television Champion, is also absent from the All Out card, though there’s no reason given as to why he’s sitting out. ‘The Samoan Submission Machine’ last wrestled on 23 July, defending the championship against Jay Lethal at ROH Death Before Dishonor.
Mercedes Martinez officially joined All Elite Wrestling at the end of 2021, capturing the interim ROH Women’s World Championship at April’s Supercard of Honor pay-per-view. She later defeated IMPACT Wrestling’s Deonna Purrazzo to be crowned the undisputed champion on AEW Dynamite.
‘The OG Badass’ last competed on 24 July, defeating Vita VonStarr for the Northeast Wrestling organisation.
