Tony Khan Rages At Kevin Kelly Attorney For Jim Ross Comments

Tony Khan Jim Ross AEW

Tony Khan isn’t happy about some comments made by a lawyer regarding legendary AEW announcer Jim Ross.

Jim Ross was one of the first hires that Tony Khan made when All Elite Wrestling launched in January 2019. The presence of the WWE Hall of Famer Ross gave AEW credibility in the eyes of a lot of fans because of JR’s incredible contributions to pro wrestling for the last 50 years.

Former AEW/ROH announcer Kevin Kelly is suing All Elite Wrestling after being fired by the company. Kelly’s lawsuit also includes Bret and Brandon Tate known as The Tate Twins.

Recently, Ross criticized Kelly’s lawsuit claiming it was “frivolous” and Kelly fired back at JR saying that AEW left them no choice.

Stephen P. New is Kevin Kelly’s lawyer for the lawsuit. New appeared on the House of Kayfabe show to talk about the lawsuit while also taking a shot at Ross. New also claimed that Tony Khan was paying Jim Ross “to do nothing” for five years.

“I need to make a response. JR, Jim Ross, called this lawsuit frivolous. Well, let me tell you something, boola-boola, this is not a frivolous lawsuit. You’re part of the problem. You, Jim Ross, are part of the problem because you fed the guys in WWE as Talent Relations these crap contracts for a quarter of a century.

You told these guys that it was the take-it-or-leave-it deal, and that they needed to sign these crap contracts that were contracts of adhesion, that they should have never signed, or they should have lined the arbitration provisions out of.

So I’m not shocked in the least that you go on Conrad Thompson’s podcast and you say that this is a frivolous lawsuit. I might lose it, by ‘bah gawd’ it’s not frivolous, I can tell you that.

Tony Khan’s paid JR a lot of money to do nothing for about five years now. If I were Jim Ross and I were living at Jacksonville Beach and making a bunch of money to not do much at all, I’d probably come out and call Stephen P. New’s lawsuit also. Everybody’s got a price.” (h/t to Fightful)

While Jim Ross was featured heavily on AEW Dynamite and PPVs in the first few years of AEW, he has been on a lot less in the last couple of years due to health problems. However, JR does appear occasionally and does call big matches at the PPV shows as well.

Tony Khan “Shocked & Appalled” By Comments Critcizing Jim Ross

Tony Khan is set to present AEW All Out later this evening on September 7th from Chicago. Khan did an early morning tweet saying he was shocked and appalled by what New had to say.

I’ve just read Stephen P. New’s comments about @JRsBBQ. I’m shocked + appalled by these comments on legend Jim Ross, part of AEW’s foundation, someone so important from the beginning of AEW and still right now today. AEW, JR & I reserve all rights. See you tonight at #AEWAllOut
