Tony Khan “Has A Plan” For Ring Of Honor
Chris Jericho is happy to be part of Tony Khan’s grand plan.
Tony Khan has held ownership of ROH and its media library since 2022. While there was initially a lot of positivity around the deal, Khan has been criticised for not doing more with the company with many fans feeling it’s often forgotten.
However, work is being done to change that perception, and there are an increasing number of opportunities regarding a new media rights deal.
On December 20th, Ring of Honor Final Battle will return to the world-famous Hammerstein Ballroom for the first time since 2018. The card will be topped by the Women’s World Title clash between Athena and Billie Starkz, while Chris Jericho will defend his World Title against Matt Cardona.
Tony Khan Is A Man With A Plan
During an appearance on Busted Open Radio, Jericho discussed Final Battle and his current run as ROH World Champion. The veteran revealed there are a lot of things in the works for the brand, adding that Tony Khan has a plan, and he’s proud to be part of it.
“I’m not a nostalgia guy. Maybe you might want to bring in some guys that used to work there, but a lot of those guys are still in the business. Maybe Bryan Danielson or somebody like that. Whoever is out there that would stop by. To me, it’s more about what we’re doing now with Ring of Honor.
There is a lot going on that is in the works with television and that sort of thing. We’re trying to put as much focus on the Ring of Honor brand as we can. That’s why, as Ring of Honor Champion, I’ve been on Ring of Honor three weeks, it’s the most press and the most focus the Ring of Honor brand has had on Dynamite in months, if not years, probably since the last time I was Ring of Honor Champion.
Tony has a plan for what he wants to do with it and I’m happy to be involved. It’s been great being on Dynamite promoting this match because this is a Ring of Honor show. To be on Dynamite to put a spotlight on our show and then go back to Collision, that’s kind of my role in the company, doing whatever it is Tony wants me to do, to the best of my abilities, and having a great time doing it,”
During the same appearance, Chris Jericho claimed Matt Cardona reminds him of Bret Hart while praising his in-ring skills. The veteran warned fans not to expect anything to elaborate when the pair meet in the ring, instead promising they’ll “beat the sh*t” out of each other.
