Tony Khan Guarantees AEW PPV For Major US City
Tony Khan has told fans in a major American city that they will soon have an AEW PPV.
Two AEW television shows are taking place in Detroit this week on the road to Double or Nothing. In the main event of Dynamite from Detroit, Samoa Joe beat Claudio Castagnoli in the main event while holding off Jon Moxley and The Death Riders.
There will also be a special Thursday night edition of AEW Collision at the Masonic Temple Theatre in Detroit on May 8th.
Detroit has held many major wrestling events over the years, including WWE WrestleMania twice and many huge WCW shows. AEW has been there many times, but in the words of AEW’s boss, Tony Khan, they will be coming back with something big in the future.
At the Dynamite taping in Detroit, Tony Khan did one of his promos on the stage, where he tends to yell awkwardly into the microphone. The fans were chanting “pay-per-view” for their city. Khan said that he could guarantee that would happen. He also said that he might need a bigger building for that and that he’s been there before.
Over the last year, most AEW television shows have occurred in smaller buildings that hold about 3,000 people or more. They usually get into the bigger arenas for PPV events because they are more confident about selling those tickets.

Tony Khan Teases An AEW App Is Coming Soon
AEW has existed for over six years, but they have yet to develop an App that fans can use on their phones. AEW’s Owner, Tony Khan said recently that he considers an app a priority for the company, so it could be something that launches soon.
“Certainly, that is a priority for us. It’s definitely something that….our media rights agreement has grown, evolved, and changed. There are things we have the ability to do that, contractually, I didn’t have the ability to do a couple of months ago. I’m very excited about that.
We’re developing and adding a lot of things in AEW in 2025, a lot of firsts this year for us. It’s definitely something we’re working on and thinking about. Now, there are things we can do with an app that we might not have been able to do a few months ago.”
Next up for Tony Khan and AEW for PPVs is the big Double or Nothing event on May 25th in Phoenix.
