Tony Khan Announces Full Bracket Of AEW Tag Team Title Eliminator Tournament
Tony Khan has announced the whole bracket to determine who will be the next AEW Tag Team Title challengers.
The Hurt Syndicate duo of Bobby Lashley and Shelton Benjamin have been AEW World Tag Team Champions for over 180 days, which means over six months after winning them back in January.
At AEW All In Texas, The Hurt Syndicate defeated the Jetspeed duo of “Speedball” Mike Bailey and Kevin Knight in a competitive match.
On this week’s July 23rd edition of AEW Dynamite, a tournament was announced to determine the next Tag Team Title challengers. Whoever wins the tournament will challenge The Hurt Syndicate at Forbidden Door on August 24th in London, England.
In the first tournament match, FTR’s Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler beat Jetspeed’s “Speedball” Mike Bailey and Kevin Knight in a great match. However, AEW didn’t have other teams announced in the tournament, so fans were left wondering who else is in the tournament.
Tony Khan is AEW’s Owner, CEO, GM, and booker who announced the other teams in the tournament on social media.
FTR will face the winner of the Bang Bang Gang (Austin Gunn & Juice Robinson) match against Big Bill & Bryan Keith. Bill and Keith were part of Chris Jericho’s “The Learning Tree” group.
On the other side of the bracket, The Outrunners will face The Young Bucks, and Gates of Agony will be against Brodido, which is Brody King and Bandido.

What that means is the finals could be FTR against The Young Bucks, which would rekindle a classic AEW rivalry. If FTR makes the finals, they could also face The Outrunners, with whom they have recently had a rivalry.
Tony Khan Announces AEW Matches On Show Days For A Specific Reason
While many AEW fans may have been frustrated with Tony Khan waiting three days after the Tag Team Title Eliminator Tournament to announce the brackets, the AEW boss recently explained why he likes to do match announcements on the same day that AEW shows air.
“A lot of times, wrestling companies will make some announcements on the day of the show because they get engagement. It’s a way to get you talking about the show, get you interested in the show.
Typically, those match announcements are the most engagement you’re gonna get on the day of the show. I think they do very, very well.”
The next huge AEW match that Tony Khan is promoting will take place on the July 30th edition of Dynamite as “Hangman” Adam Page defends the AEW World Title against Jon Moxley. It’s not that common to have AEW World Title matches on Dynamite, so it’s a nice treat for fans to see such a big match on AEW’s main TV show.
