Tony Khan Forced To Confirm Ricky Starks Status In AEW

Ricky Starks AEW Tag Team Champion

Ricky Starks is a former AEW Tag Team Champion but his future in the company has been the subject of increasingly heated speculation.

Ricky Starks has not competed in AEW since he and Big Bill lost the AEW Tag Team Championship to Sting and Darby Allin on the 7th of February edition of Dynamite. Rumours began to swirl online that Starks’ AEW contract had come to an end and that he could be a much sought-after free agent.

What Did Tony Khan Say About Ricky Starks?

Speaking at the AEW Revolution media scrum, Tony Khan claimed he didn’t know what the rumour surrounding Starks is but confirmed that the star is still under contract with AEW and paid tribute to the star and Big Bill for their part in Sting’s farewell:

I don’t know what the rumour is. Ricky is part of AEW. Ricky is definitely still under contract in AEW. I haven’t seen that. Ricky was a big part of Sting’s run, he was Sting’s first match in AEW. Ricky and Big Bill, I’m very grateful, and I’ve said that to Ricky too, both right after the match and since, very grateful.

Ricky and Big Bill, what great world tag team champions, and what a great match for Sting and Darby to win the world tag team championships. Ricky was there at the beginning three years ago, then a huge part of the title change, which set the stage for tonight. He’s been here for some of the big moments. I’m very excited about having him here. He’s definitely part of AEW and has been a big part of Sting’s final run.

Sting ended his career in incredible fashion at AEW Revolution as he and Darby Allin teamed up one last time for a bloody battle against The Young Bucks.
