Tony Khan Excited About The Future For Andrade El Idolo
The situation around Andrade remains a mystery.
After less than two years back with WWE, Andrade made his shock return to AEW on the October 1 edition of Dynamite. However, after confronting Kenny Omega on the show, he hasn’t been seen on television since.
This was followed by a report that claimed his absence could be due to issues with his non-compete clause. Initially, it was believed that Andrade wouldn’t have one as he’d been fired by WWE over several wellness policy breaches. But it seems that might not be the case.
To further complicate matters, it was then reported that new WWE/TKO contracts come with a one-year non-compete clause if the talent involved is fired. If enforced, this clause could keep Andrade out of the ring until September 2026.
Andrade Is A “Great Wrestler”
While appearing on Z100 New York, Tony Khan was again asked about Andrade as his absence continues. Unfortunately, Khan admitted that he can’t comment on the specifics of the situation, but he remains a huge fan of the star and is looking forward to whatever comes next.
“Well, Andrade El Idolo was a great wrestler for AEW and he left at the end of Worlds End ‘23, at the end of 2023.
I gave — actually here in New York — a press conference scrum and I said, ‘I think Andrade El Idolo’s a great wrestler. He’s leaving AEW on a very high note, and he’s leaving on the best of terms,’ and all that is true, and I have a ton of respect for him, and I can’t say much more other than to say that I’m very excited to see what happens next with Andrade.
I love the guy very much and I have a lot of respect for him.”
Meanwhile, Samantha Irvin has revealed that she’s currently subject to a two-year non-compete clause from WWE. Irvin, who left the company in October 2024, has surprisingly confirmed that her non-compete runs for two years, meaning she’s unable to link up with husband, Ricochet, in AEW.
