Tony Khan Celebrates A Successful Dynamite
Wanting to also give the fans something to celebrate, Khan put on an episode of Dynamite that was nearly 3 hours in length and featured multiple championship matches for the show dubbed “Title Tuesday.” Beginning the action half an hour before the official broadcast time, Dynamite presented a buy-in show that featured Eddie Kingston facing Minoru Suzuki in what was their first one-on-one encounter in AEW.
Two title matches were booked for the main show and both saw new champions crowned. Due to Jon Moxley still not being cleared to compete, Orange Cassidy was announced as the replacement challenger to take on International Champion Ray Fenix. The late addition played into the hands of Cassidy as he was able to defeat Fenix and become the first-ever wrestler to hold the International title twice.
History continued to be made in the second title match that saw Saraya defend the Women’s Championship against Hikaru Shida. Despite the use of spray paint and multiple finishers hit, Shida would not stay down. Following multiple quick pin attempts, Shida would pin Saraya to become the first 3-time Women’s Champion in company history.
