Tony Khan Could Be Forced Into AEW Dynamite Changes

Tony Khan could make changes to AEW Dynamite.

On January 22nd, AEW Dynamite heads to Knoxville, Tennessee. Ahead of the show, it’s been announced that Shelton Benjamin & Bobby Lashley will challenge Private Party for the AEW World Tag Team Titles.

Elsewhere, Jamie Hayter will face Julia Hart, Swerve Strickland tackles AR Fox, Samoa Joe squares off against Nick Wayne and Cope goes one-on-one with PAC. There’s also the small matter of a huge face-to-face between Kenny Omega and Will Ospreay.

However, it seems the journey to Knoxville hasn’t been easy thanks to the weather.

In a post on social media, Tony Khan said he won’t be afraid to make changes to the show if needed, although he noted “most of the team is here.”

With winter weather, most of our team is here, but some are still battling icy roads + canceled flights!

Tony Khan Blocking AEW Star’s Exit

Away from the action in the ring, it’s been reported that Ricky Starks has asked to be released from his AEW contract, but his request has been denied. As such, Starks is being forced to wait out his deal while taking independent dates.

Starks hasn’t appeared on AEW television since March despite repeatedly stating that he’s injury-free and ready to return to work. While there’s naturally been no official comment from the man himself, Starks is expected to join WWE when his contract expires.

According to a recent report, Ricky Starks is one of several AEW stars who will look to sign with WWE as soon as they become free agents. The other stars named in the report were Malakai Black, Miro, and Rey Fenix, and each of the quartet, including Starks, no longer features on AEW television.
