Tony Khan Confirms Injury To Top AEW Star

Tony Khan has admitted things aren’t looking good for several AEW stars.

During the April 2 edition of Dynamite, it was announced that Jay White had been removed from the Owen Hart Foundation Tournament. In storyline, White’s absence was put down to an attack from the Death Riders, and he was replaced in the tournament by Kevin Knight.

New signing Knight went on to lose to Will Ospreay at Dynasty.

It was subsequently confirmed that the Death Riders angle was used to write Switchblade off television after he suffered a legitimate hand injury.

Following the news that White had been pulled from the Owen Hart Cup, it was reported that both Mark Davis and Orange Cassidy are dealing with injuries. Cassidy is reportedly dealing with a pectoral issue, while Davis’ injury remains unknown.

Tony Khan Breaks Silence On AEW Injury Bug

During the AEW Dynasty post-show media scrum, Tony Khan commented on the new raft of injuries and confirmed for the first time that Cassidy is also out of action.

“The past two weeks, it’s no secret, the company got bit hard by an injury bug. The roster and locker room really rallied hard. To lose wrestlers like Orange Cassidy and then Jay White, back-to-back weeks, those are two of the top stars in the company and we would have loved to had both of them here tonight and everybody stepped up,”

According to an update from Fightful Select, Cassidy’s injury is expected to keep him out for “quite some time” if it’s as bad as currently feared. Meanwhile, Davis is expected to be out of action for around four to eight weeks.

Jay White’s hand injury could also require surgery, and the report added that Kevin Knight was simply slotted into plans meant for the star, including at Dynasty.
