Tony Khan Claims AEW Has The “Greatest Roster Ever”
Tony Khan is very proud of the roster he has built for All Elite Wrestling.
As All Elite Wrestling approaches the five-year anniversary of the first episode of Dynamite on October 2nd, the company also has its biggest Dynamite episode of the year on September 25th for the annual Grand Slam show from New York City.
All of this is coming on the heels of last month’s massive All In London show from last month, which had over 50,000+ fans in attendance at Wembley Stadium.
As the AEW Founder, Co-Owner, President, and CEO of All Elite Wrestling, Tony Khan is as hands-on as it gets regarding the AEW product. Tony is responsible for nearly everything that goes on with the company out of the ring and in the ring as the main booker.
During a recent interview with Dave LaGreca of Busted Open Radio, Tony Khan gave his reasoning for booking the first AEW match between International Champion Will Ospreay and Ricochet on the AEW Dynamite five-year anniversary show rather than saving it as a pay-per-view match. While commenting on that, Khan also made it clear that he believes that AEW has the best roster of talent in pro wrestling.
“That’s why I think it makes perfect sense with these big stages. We have the greatest roster ever. There is an unlimited supply of huge matches. These are matches that have been building since the people arrived at AEW.”
That could be considered a bold statement from Khan since AEW has had smaller crowds this year compared to other years while WWE is thriving with record business numbers and sellouts everywhere they go. However, it’s also an example of how much Tony believes in the roster he has built.
Tony Khan Is Giddy About AEW’s New Media Rights Deal
In the same interview, Tony Khan made it clear that AEW will remain a part of the Warner Bros Discovery programming family as the reports continue about a new deal being announced soon.
“I know they have been reporting things that are very interesting. There are a lot of reports and rumors. I have not confirmed and Warner Brothers has not confirmed anything officially.
“I think we have a really exciting future there. I can say with 100% certainty, AEW and TBS and TNT are here to stay for a long time.”
Meanwhile, former AEW TNT Champion Miro wants out after not being used very much by the company over the last few years.
