Tony Khan Signals End For AEW Show
Tony Khan has confirmed what has been known for quite some time as the end for AEW Rampage has arrived.
Back in October, and after months of speculation, All Elite Wrestling finally reached a new multi-year media rights agreement with Warner Bros. Discovery. Although financial terms weren’t officially disclosed, the deal is said to be worth upwards of $150 million per year.
As per the agreement, Dynamite and Collision will remain on TBS and TNT respectively. However, for the first time ever, AEW programming will stream live on Max and will be available on-demand from January 2025.
The deal made no mention of Rampage and it was expected that the Friday night show would quietly disappear come the end of 2024 and Tony Khan has now all but admitted that’s the case.
Tony Khan Brings The Curtain Down On AEW Rampage
AEW taped Dynamite and Rampage to air on Christmas Day and December 27 respectively at Hammerstein Ballroom on December 22. According to multiple fans at the special taping, Tony Khan made an appearance to note that they were taping the final edition of Rampage “for the foreseeable future.”
Rampage debuted on August 13th 2021 and saw Christian Cage defeat Kenny Omega for the TNA World Championship. One week later, however, proved to be Rampage’s high point as CM Punk made his AEW debut on the show starting his ill-fated spell in the company.
