Tony Khan Bringing Ex-ECW Champion To AEW

Tony Khan AEW

Tony Khan is reliving his youth as a former ECW World Champion is set to make their debut in AEW.

It’s been announced that AEW will be heading to the 2300 Arena, better known to fans as the ECW Arena, at the end of August and into September. This will see the famous venue host three episodes of Dynamite, three episodes of Collision, and ROH’s Death Before Dishonor.

Back in early April, AEW boss Tony Khan said he would love to run a taping at the ECW Arena, noting that he’d be very interested should the opportunity present itself.

But before that takes place, Tony Khan is bringing in a former ECW World Champion before then.

Tony Khan Bringing Rhino To AEW

AEW announced on social media that Rhino will be a part of upcoming shows for the company, as well as ROH, in The Man Beast’s hometown of Detroit, MI:

“The Man Beast” RHINO will appear LIVE in Detroit at the Masonic Temple Theatre Wednesday 5/7 and Thursday 5/8 When AEW + @RingOfHonor return to the Motor City! Get your tickets NOW at http://AEWTIX.com

Rhino was the final ECW World Champion when the promotion closed in the spring of 2001. He then moved to WWE, where he found success in the company’s hardcore division. In 2016, he formed an unlikely alliance with Heath Slater in WWE, with the two stars becoming the inaugural SmackDown Tag Team Champions.

Rhino is following in the footsteps of other ECW alumni such as Rob Van Dam and Sabu in appearing in Tony Khan’s company. Both Jerry Lynn and Taz – former ECW World Champions – have worked for AEW for several years.
