Tony Khan Booed At AEW Grand Slam Australia

Tony Khan AEW

The first AEW show in Australia saw the company’s owner Tony Khan get booed by the fans.

Tony Khan and AEW were supposed to have their first event in Australia at Suncorp Stadium, but those plans changed because ticket sales were slow so the company decided to run the event at the Brisbane Entertainment Center.

Even though the venue changed, Tony Khan is still happy about the event while calling it one of AEW’s biggest events ever.

“This is one of our biggest international events ever. It’s one of our biggest gates in the history of AEW. We’re really excited for that. Outside of Wembley Stadium in London, this is going to be, I believe, our biggest international live gate of all time. It’s a very exciting event for AEW.”

AEW hasn’t had that many international events in its six-year history other than two All In shows taking place at Wembley Stadium in England and a handful of Canadian shows.

Australian Fans Greet Tony Khan With Boos

There were over 10,000 fans at the Brisbane Entertainment Center in Brisbane, Australia and when Tony Khan appeared to welcome the fans to the show, the fans booed him.

When Tony Khan claimed it was a dream come true to be in this arena, the fans booed and they kept on booing.

Khan informed the fans that while this was AEW’s first show in Australia, he also added that it won’t be the last. That part drew cheers from the fans.

AEW Grand Slam Australia will air on February 15th in the United States on TNT at about 10:30 p.m. ET or whenever the NBA All-Star Saturday night event ends. There has been some confusion about when it would air because it’s not a in a regular timeslot.
