Tony Khan To Blame For Young Bucks’ AEW Absence

Young Bucks Cybertruck

For AEW fans wondering just where The Young Bucks are, it seems their current absence from the company is down to none other than Tony Khan.

The Young Bucks captured the AEW Tag Team Championship at Dynasty in April 2024. Since then, Matthew & Nicholas Jackson have defended that title precisely zero times with The Acclaimed guaranteed a title shot after beating The Bucks in a non-title match while FTR are also circling looking to get another shot at the gold.

The Young Bucks were part of Blood & Guts on the 24th of July edition of Dynamite with Matthew Jackson surrendering for Team Elite as Darby Allin threatened to light Jack Perry on fire. But fans have wondered why, having been such a big part of the show recently and the current AEW Tag Team Champions, The Young Bucks have been missing on shows.

Tony Khan Keeping Young Bucks Off AEW Shows

Speaking on the Bryan & Vinny Show, Bryan Alvarez gave some insight into the situation laying the blame at Tony Khan’s door and comparing The Young Bucks’ deal to that of Brock Lesnar in WWE:

I gotta say this because people have taken this out on the Bucks. Listen, everybody, if you think that Young Bucks book their own stuff, they don’t. If you are upset about the Young Bucks not being on TV, if you are upset about the Bucks not defending their tag team titles. There is one person you can be upset at and that is Tony Khan, because whatever contract they signed it was for X number of dates, and he has not wanted to pay them.

Maybe he’s got some plans for the end of the year or they used the number of dates at the beginning of the year. I don’t know what it is, but it isn’t the Young Bucks deciding ‘Hey we are going to take the summer off and not defend our tag team titles’.

It is like Brock Lesnar, remember people getting mad for Brock never showing up, for somehow Brock was calling the shots. It is like he had X number of dates, they did not want to pay him for extended periods of time. So they told him to stay home, and he farmed and drank whole milk and when they wanted they called him back to work. And that is exactly what the Bucks will do when they get the call.

Tony Khan overruled The Young Bucks on Dynamite as he ended the suspension of Britt Baker who – in storyline – had been suspended by the EVPs after Baker confronted Mercedes Mone at Comic-Con as their TBS Title for All In was confirmed.
