There was a lot of anticipation among the pro wrestling community that Khan might announce that Mercedes Mone has signed with AEW, but her name was never mentioned.
Tony Khan’s AEW Big Business Is Expected To Feature Mercedes Mone
It has been reported by Fightful Select that AEW Dynamite’s Big Business episode on March 13 is expected to feature Mercedes Mone. Their report has added that Mone has been on AEW’s payroll since at least early January.
The report adds that AEW considered announcing Mercedes Mone for the Big Business show, but they decided to pass on that and just announce the show at TD Garden instead.
A key thing that does reference Mercedes Mone is that the graphic says “Bo$$ton” on the left side of the Big Business Logo. Mone was known as “The Boss” In WWE so obviously it’s a reference to her.
During her WWE career, Mone (as Sasha Banks) won every major championship in the company starting with the NXT Women’s Title followed by the two main roster Women’s Titles and she was a Women’s Tag Team Champion with Bayley and Naomi. In May 2022, Banks & Naomi walked out of WWE due to their frustrations with the creative process. Naomi returned to WWE at the Royal Rumble, but Mercedes has decided to go on a different path.
While there were discussions between Mone and WWE about a return to the company, those talks fell apart. It was reported on New Year’s Day that Mone had agreed to a deal with AEW. Since then, it was only a matter of waiting for the right time to announce her AEW debut.
