Tony Khan Finally Addresses Andrade’s Controversy

Andrade left WWE in September 2025.

His departure was not related to budget cuts or wrestling performance. It was due to disciplinary reasons, including repeated violations of WWE’s wellness policy and backstage behavior issues.

After his release, Andrade made a surprise return to AEW during the October 1, 2025, episode of Dynamite, but has not performed since.

The main reason is that WWE issued a cease-and-desist order, arguing that Andrade was subject to a one-year non-compete clause.

Tony Khan And Andrade Are On Good Terms

In a recent interview with Ariel Helwani, Tony Khan was asked to comment on the Andrade situation.

The AEW President stated he remains on good terms with Andrade and was delighted to see him again when he made his one-night AEW appearance after leaving WWE.

Tony Khan emphasized that Andrade left AEW on the best of terms originally and stated that whenever he is officially free to appear, he is always welcome back in AEW.

“Now, when he said he was free and made his one-night appearance, I was thrilled to see him again. And anytime he’s free, and whenever that is, he is absolutely always welcome.”

“I think the world of Andrade. I had a great experience with him, and he left on the best of terms.”

When Helwani asked Khan if he believed Andrade had been truthful about his contract status and availability after leaving WWE, Tony Khan neither confirmed nor denied it directly.

Instead, he described it as an “interesting situation” that he plans to continue monitoring, but he chose not to provide further details.

“I can’t speak to that, but I really… and it’s the first time I’ve said that to you… but I do appreciate that. It is an interesting situation that I am going to keep an eye on.”

Currently, AEW is avoiding mentioning Andrade on television and is waiting for the contractual dispute with WWE to be settled before moving forward with any plans or appearances for him.
