On January 15th, AEW will head to Cincinnati, Ohio for Dynamite Maximum Carnage. On the show, Jon Moxley will defend the AEW World Championship against an as-yet-undetermined opponent.
A Casino Gauntlet Match is set to be held on January 8th, with the winner going on to face Moxley. Meanwhile, Tony Khan has now confirmed that the first-ever Women’s Casino Gauntlet Match will take place a week later in Ohio. The winner of that match will then challenge for the AEW Women’s Title at Grand Slam: Australia on February 15th.

Announcer Suspended After Tony Khan Criticism
Following Wrestle Dynasty on January 5th, it’s been reported that NJPW announcer Chris Charlton has been placed on an indefinite hiatus. The move came after the commentator was critical of AEW and the company’s use of Kazuchika Okada, Will Ospreay, and Jay White before branding Tony Khan a “money mark.”
Charlton made the comments during the match between Kenny Omega and Gabe Kidd.
A later update from Fightful Select noted that Charlton had been suspended for two months, but despite online speculation, Khan had nothing to do with the decision. However, it’s known that people within AEW were less than impressed with Charlton.
