Tony Khan & AEW Want Major Decision In Lawsuit

Tony Khan AEW All In

AEW and Tony Khan have now responded to a lawsuit filed by one star whose time in the company came to an end under a cloud following a spat with CM Punk.

CM Punk’s ill-fated spell in AEW continues to overshadow the company as Ryan Nemeth has filed a lawsuit against the company, Punk, and Tony Khan alleging several infractions.

CM Punk was fired by AEW in 2023 after a backstage altercation with Jack Perry at All In London. That was far from Punk’s first backstage issue in the company. He was suspended in September 2022 following his infamous fight with The Young Bucks after his explosive comments at a press conference after All Out.

Ryan Nemeth has alleged he was confronted by Punk after he returned following suspension in the summer of 2023. Fightful has reported major points from the lawsuit and included details such as CM Punk – referred to by his real name of Phil Brooks in the filing – served in a role of “executive leadership” and that Tony Khan “has a very deep personal affinity for Brooks.”

However, there were some factual errors including that Punk’s altercation with The Young Bucks occurred in early 2023 rather than the fall of 2022.

Tony Khan & AEW Want Arbitration

AEW and Tony Khan have now responded to the suit seeking to compel Ryan Nemeth into private arbitration. The petition states that Nemeth signed three contracts with AEW dated March 1 2021, January 17 2022, and March 1 2023 respectively. It is noted that each of these contracts contains identical arbitration clauses that mandate disputes should be settled in Duval County, Florida, under JAMS, Inc. arbitration rules.
