Tony Khan Says AEW Name Is “One Of The Biggest Stars In Wrestling”

Tony Khan has recalled seeing something special in one of AEW’s brightest stars.

After impressing in Stardom, Mariah May signed with AEW in November 2023 and quickly joined forces with “Timeless” Toni Storm.

The duo made a formidable team until May turned on her idol after winning the Owen Hart Cup. The pair are now scheduled to meet for the AEW Women’s World Title at All In.

In a new interview with Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated, Tony Khan revealed that he first contacted May after Double or Nothing 2023, and broke down how he would use her in AEW. He added that he discussed her impressive rise in Stardom with Bryan Danielson.

Khan went on to describe May as one of the biggest stars in wrestling today.

“I saw something in her, and I asked her to do something very different when she came to AEW,” Khan continued. “There was even some backlash at the beginning when people were pushing back that she came into AEW as this big fan of Toni Storm, which was very different from what she was doing in Stardom. Now we’re going to learn how and why she did all this, and how she became one of the biggest stars in wrestling in less than a year in AEW.”

Tony Khan Drops Fresh Ricochet Hint

During a different interview, Tony Khan also went to great lengths to break down his admiration for Ricochet. The AEW boss repeatedly stated that the high-flyer is a great wrestler while recalling his history with the likes of Will Ospreay.

Ricochet has been a free agent since July 1st after letting his WWE contract expire. Even before his departure, the star was tipped to become All Elite in the coming weeks.
