Tony Khan Names AEW Match One Of The Best Moments Of His Life
Tony Khan has looked back on a perfect night and a perfect match.
On March 3, 2024, Sting wrestled his last match. The Icon’s career began back in 1985 and took him across the world with the biggest wrestling promotions in history, but at age 65, it was finally time to hang up his very famous boots.
On the big night at AEW Revolution at the Greensboro Coliseum, Sting rolled back the years one last time as he teamed with Darby Allin to successfully defend the World Tag Team Titles against the Young Bucks.
The match featured stunts galore, and even appearances from Sting’s sons and Ric Flair, but when all was said and done, the former WCW, WWE, and TNA star went out as champion.
Tony Khan Is Proud Of Sting’s Last Match
During a new interview with the Way of the Blade podcast, Khan looked back on what will be remembered as one of the greatest nights in AEW history. While reflecting on Sting’s farewell, the All Elite boss said it was one of the happiest nights of his life.
“It’s probably the best, happiest night of my life in wrestling, one of the happiest nights of my life. I’m really glad that we were all able to put it together for Sting.”
Khan went on to heap praise on everyone involved in the match, particularly Allin and the Young Bucks, for their efforts in making the match as spectacular as possible.
“Darby and the Young Bucks and everyone involved in that wrestling match, and in particular, some of the risks they took, the Young Bucks and what Darby did, and Sting himself taking so many risks in the match helped make it a great match…
and all that came together to create, I think, a perfect night, a perfect match, and probably the greatest, happiest memory of my entire life.”
Sting is currently in the midst of his “2025 or Never” tour as he prepares to leave his famous ring gear behind. Although he’s stayed away from the spotlight since retirement, Sting remains under AEW contract.
