Tony Khan Claims AEW Change Will Be Future Of Pro Wrestling
Tony Khan is feeling positive heading into 2025.
On October 2nd, it was announced that All Elite Wrestling had reached a new media rights agreement with Warner Bros. Discovery. The deal was said to be for three years with the addition of a fourth option year that can be exercised by WBD.
As part of the deal, pay-per-views will air on Max, although it was unclear when this would start.
During an appearance at the AEW All In Texas ticket on-sale party, Tony Khan said the event on July 12th will air live on the platform, something he said represents the future of pro wrestling.
“Pro wrestling has always been at the forefront of entertainment, whether it was the original broadcast television, cable, closed circuit, pay-per-view, VHS, DVD, pro wrestling’s always been there, and the future of wrestling and the future of entertainment is streaming, and pro wrestling is gonna be at the forefront of that.
AEW All In and all of the AEW TV are gonna be live-streaming going forward on Max. We’ve got a great home on TBS, we have a great home on TNT.
You can watch AEW the same great way you’ve been watching it, but you’re gonna be able to livestream the shows on Max too.
It’s gonna be the future of pro wrestling,”
Tony Khan Upbeat On Ring Of Honor Future
Speaking elsewhere, Tony Khan said things are looking up for Ring of Honor. Khan suggested there’s a lot of interest in the company and a “great opportunity” for it to grow thanks to a new media rights deal.
Khan has held ownership of ROH and its media library since 2022. While there was initially a lot of positivity around the deal, Khan has been criticised for not doing more with the company with many fans feeling it’s often forgotten.
It was reported in November that Chris Jericho was made ROH World Champion to try and help secure a new television deal.
