Tony Khan Adamant About Bryan Danielson’s AEW Title Win
Bryan Danielson is the new AEW World Champion and it seems that had been the plan for All In for quite some time despite Danielson’s own thoughts.
In a hugely emotional main event in Wembley Stadium, Bryan Danielson put his illustrious wrestling career on the line against Swerve Strickland in a battle for the AEW World Championship.
Those packed into All In were firmly behind the American Dragon as they roared him to overcome the champion and his own fragility to become AEW World Champion for the first time as Danielson made Strickland tap out to the LeBell Lock.
After the match, Bryan Danielson celebrated in the ring with the new AEW Trios Champions Claudio Castagnoli, Wheeler Yuta, and PAC as well as his wife Brie and his children.
Tony Khan Adamant Over Bryan Danielson’s Win
Fightful Select has now offered more insight on how Danielson came to be the top dog in AEW. Bryan Danielson is said to have long been against winning the title but Tony Khan was adamant that it would happen and he specifically wanted the end of All In to feature Danielson celebrating as champion.
The decision to have Danielson challenge Strickland for the title in Wembley Stadium was locked in “at least by April” with the heavily rumoured Swerve Strickland vs. Will Ospreay match taking place before then with one source commenting that Ospreay has many years left to headline England’s national stadium.
Jokes were made backstage that Danielson’s win would have to come as part of a “reverse Montreal screwjob” to ensure Danielson actually won.
