Tony Khan Has 4 Words That Represent What AEW Is All About
Tony Khan is very proud of AEW’s success as a wrestling company.
The next time AEW puts on a pay-per-view event is Double or Nothing on May 25th in Phoenix. The first time AEW ran a PPV was in May 2019, with the first edition of Double or Nothing in Las Vegas.
AEW recently celebrated the 289th episode of AEW Dynamite with an event called Spring BreakThru. They celebrated that number because it meant that they had officially passed the number of episodes that WCW Monday Nitro had. Since Nitro aired on TNT and Dynamite has aired on TNT and TBS, AEW’s CEO Tony Khan felt that that milestone episode should be celebrated to recognize AEW’s place in wrestling history.
Tony Khan is AEW’s CEO, GM, and Head of Creative, overseeing everything AEW. While speaking with Screenrant, Tony Khan discussed the company’s place in pro wrestling history.
I’m really proud of the run we’re having right now. We’ve been on TBS and TNT now for over five years and have hit some real historical milestones, and we’re still running very strong today. I look back at the history of wrestling and I see where AEW stands, and it makes me really proud to be one of the companies that’s having this really long run on television. It’s unprecedented in many ways.
Tony Khan Believes In AEW’s “Where The Best Wrestle” Phrase
It was recently announced that Tony Khan and AEW will be running a residency at the 2300 Arena in Philadelphia. Between August 27th and September 11th, the company will run seven events (including ROH Death Before Dishonor).
The residency dates are as follows:
Wednesday, August 27 – AEW Dynamite
Saturday, August 30 – AEW Collision
Wednesday, September 3 – AEW Dynamite
Friday, September 5 – ROH Death Before Dishonor
Saturday, September 6 – AEW Collision
Wednesday, September 10 – AEW Dynamite
Thursday, September 11 – Special Taping of AEW Collision
Tony Khan also told Screenrant that he strongly believes in the “Where The Best Wrestle” that AEW people often use when discussing the company.
“When I say that this is where the best wrestle, it’s the truth, and it sums up exactly what makes AEW stand out in the wrestling industry. Historically, we have this amazing roster and some of the greatest moments and rivalries in wrestling are happening, and we’re on a great run of shows right now.”
AEW held Dynamite and Collision in Detroit earlier this week. Tony Khan told the fans that he could guarantee they would have a PPV in Detroit, although he didn’t say when that would happen.
