Toni Storm Stuns AEW As She Wins Title Shot In Australia
Toni Storm might not remember the past but she’s got big things in her future as she earns a massive AEW Women’s World Championship match.
Toni Storm began spiralling out of all control when she lost the AEW Women’s World Title before the first All In London show in 2023. Storm began living the life of a Hollywood star from the golden age of film as she truly became timeless.
It was during this run that Toni Storm recaptured the AEW Women’s World Championship and attracted a protegé in the form of Mariah May. May seemed enthralled by her new mentor but she had a plan all along.
Mariah May won the Owen Hart Foundation Tournament in 2024 earning a shot at Storm’s title in the process. Mariah May then viciously turned on Toni Storm, revealing her plan had been to get close to her and then eventually betray the champion in the hope of taking her title.
That proved to be exactly what happened in May’s home country at All In London 2024 when she defeated Storm to become AEW Women’s World Champion. Storm went missing from AEW for months after that and when she returned, it was not the same Storm that had left.
Toni Storm Heading To Grand Slam Australia
Instead, Toni Storm – apparently suffering from another mental episode – returned to AEW as her original self, thinking she was a rookie and new to the company. Storm has racked up the wins so far and now she’s claimed the biggest one of all as she won the Casino Gauntlet match at Dynamite Maximum Carnage to earn a shot at the AEW Women’s World Championship at Grand Slam Australia.
Mariah May vs. Toni Storm is the first match made for that landmark show that will take place in Brisbane on February 15. AEW had been forced to abandon plans for a stadium show in Australia but the event will still go ahead in a smaller venue.
