Top TNA Star Thinks John Cena Appearance Would Be Game-Changing
A major star with a long history in WWE thinks that John Cena appearing in TNA during his retirement tour would be a big deal.
There was a massive deal was announced this week regarding a partnership between WWE and TNA Wrestling.
The deal was announced as ” a multi-year partnership aimed at creating unprecedented crossover opportunities within WWE and TNA programming for NXT Superstars and TNA Wrestling Stars.”
While the deal specifically the NXT brand and TNA, it’s certainly possible that some main roster stars will appear on TNA programming in the future. Wrestlers who worked for TNA in the past could be considered, but the companies may want to shock the world a bit by using WWE superstars as well.
John Cena has been a part of WWE for 25 years and on the main roster for the last 23 years. While he did wrestle a bit before he signed with WWE, he didn’t work for any prominent wrestling companies like TNA. Even though Cena didn’t work for TNA, several big name WWE stars like AJ Styles, CM Punk, Drew McIntyre, Cody Rhodes, and numerous others spent time in TNA.
During his first appearance on WWE TV this year on Raw in Los Angeles, John Cena announced that he’ll be in the Royal Rumble as he starts the journey during his final year as a wrestler. Cena will retire as an in-ring performer by year’s end while also making it clear he wants at least one more WWE World Title reign, which would give him a record 17 World Title reigns in WWE.
Nic Nemeth Would Love To See John Cena Appear In TNA
Over the last 20 years, Nic Nemeth was known as Dolph Ziggler in WWE and he was on the roster with John Cena for many years. The two men also had a long rivalry in the mid-2010s and wrestled many times at live events as well.
In an interview with Jon Alba of The Takedown on SI, TNA World Champion Nic Nemeth spoke about Cena possibly showing up in TNA.
“Yeah, it would be [special]. Absolutely. As much as I would like to hog it, no matter who was in that moment with him, that would be cool as hell, because he’s done so much for so many other people, and this is a big year to get everything in.
He’s not even going to be able to get to everything because everybody’s probably, just like Tanahashi, like everyone’s like dying to get in the ring with him one more time because it’s the last one.
But man, it would, it’d be game-changing for, [TNA]. It would just help us one more notch at kicking ass, if we got John here on that deal, on that partnership.”
Outside of the ring, John Cena continues to stay busy with a new Roku show called “What Drives You” with John Cena that will premiere on January 21st featuring Cena talking to celebrities about their lives, careers, and of course, their cars
