TNA Star Responds To Growing Claims WWE Could Purchase Company

WWE Triple H open mouthed

Could WWE really purchase TNA Wrestling?

In recent months, the relationship between WWE and TNA has only grown closer and closer. This included the once-unthinkable scenario where the TNA World Championship and TNA Knockouts Championships were both held by NXT Superstars. And as of September 5, the World Championship still is.

Adding more intrigue to the mix was a report that TNA Impact could move to Wednesday nights to go head-to-head with AEW Dynamite. With media rights negotiations well underway, it was claimed that Impact could move to a “WWE-associated network” before making the switch.

If that wasn’t enough, an additional report claimed that WWE “has an option” to purchase TNA at any point during an undisclosed period. It’s believed that the sports entertainment giant also has first refusal on any other offer to acquire TNA.

Matt Hardy Comments On WWE Speculation

On the latest episode of his Extreme Life of Matt Hardy podcast, the veteran was asked about the throwing speculation around TNA’s future. Matt and Jeff Hardy are currently enjoying their fourth run with the TNA World Tag Team Championships.

“Once again, who knows? WWE could do anything. I feel like right now, WWE wants TNA to be a partner, someone that’s on its own, that is doing its own business in some capacity, that they can use as a partner that can be there to be elevated as a strong promotion, maybe to one day compete with AEW.

I’m just saying this hypothetically. I’m just saying, as something that is right underneath WWE, there’s TNA, and they’re doing this. ‘We want to build these people. So it’s another organization that we are friends with, that we have a say with, that we can work together, we can have a partnership, and they can help us remain as the top number one promotion in the world.’

With that being said, I feel like that’s kind of the direction the relationship is right now, and it seems like everybody’s pretty cool with it. Will they buy them in the future? That’s always a possibility. WWE, buying anything is always a possibility, but as of right now, I don’t see it. I don’t see it happening anytime in the immediate future.”

Earlier in 2025, WWE aquired AAA and has repeatedly claimed that they won’t be making sweeping changes to the company. However, it’s beleived that not everyone in AAA is totally onboard with those comments.
