TNA Star Wants To Challenge John Cena
One of TNA’s biggest names is gunning for a match with John Cena.
At Slammiversary, Joe Hendry is due to challenge for the TNA World Championship in a huge six-man elimination match.
The opportunity comes after Hendry’s popularity has exploded in recent weeks, with the star being arguably the biggest beneficiary of TNA’s working relationship with WWE. Hendry has already made several appearances in NXT, and it’s been widely reported that many more could be on the way.
During an appearance on Talk Is Jericho, Hendry discussed his rapid rise, as well as his upcoming title match at Slammiversary. The star said that not only would he win the gold, but after doing so, he’d lay down a challenge to none other than John Cena.
The WWE legend recently announced plans to retire in 2025.
“I have a world championship match at Slammiversary. I’m going to be in the main event. This is insane. I couldn’t get on a pay-per-view four months. Now, I’m in the main event for the world title at Slammiversary.
I’ll tell you this now. If — when I win the title, I’m going to raise the title above my head, I’m going to take the microphone, and I’m going to say, ‘John Cena, you’ve done everything in this business. Almost, everything. If you want to cross the line…’ That’s what is going to happen,”
Will Joe Hendry Be The “Next John Cena?”
During a recent interview, current TNA World Champion Moose spoke of his admiration of Joe Hendry, tipping him to become the next John Cena.
Moose said he was happy to see all of the Scottish star’s hard work pay off, after spending years grinding to earn a spot on the international stage.
Despite speculation linking him with a full-time move to NXT and WWE, Joe Hendry has a “while” left on his TNA deal, however, the specifics are unknown.
