Could TNA have found the new AJ Styles?

During a 12-year run with TNA Wrestling, AJ Styles established himself as one of the best and most innovative wrestlers on the planet.

This saw Styles battle the likes of Samoa Joe, Kurt Angle, Christopher Daniels, Sting, and more, earning praise at every turn. He would eventually leave the promotion and head to NJPW before landing in WWE in 2016.

Styles was most recently in action at WrestleMania 41, where he lost to Logan Paul. Earlier in the night, TNA World Champion Joe Hendry made a surprise appearance to challenge Randy Orton, and he feels there’s another TNA star who could follow in Styles’ footsteps.

Joe Hendry Thinks TNA Star Can Emulate AJ Styles

During an appearance on TNA Press Pass, Joe Hendry was asked about potential dream matches by Ayush Sood of Wrestle India. After highlighting The Rock and John Cena, Hendry looked a little closer to home and singled out Leon Slater for special praise.

“I’m going to give you another dream match, one I’ve already had, but another one that I want to have again, and that is Leon Slater. And the reason that’s a dream match for me is because I think he is going to be the next AJ Styles.

I think he is going to be the next guy. I think he’s going to win this one day and hold it for a long time. So I faced him once before. I’d like to face him at least a couple more times. Very excited to see what happens with the trajectory of his career. Huge signing for TNA Wrestling.”

Both Hendry and Slater will be in action at Rebellion on April 27, and both in matches with gold on the line. Slater is set to challenge Moose for the X-Division Title in an Ultimate X match along with KC Navarro, Matt Cardona, El Hijo del Vikingo, and Sidney Akeem.

Meanwhile, in the main event, Hendry will defend the World Championship against Frankie Kazarian and Ethan Page.
