TNA Superstar Nic Nemeth Recalls His Early Gimmicks In Wrestling

In a recent interview with Ad Free Shows, TNA superstar Nic Nemeth, formerly known as Dolph Ziggler in WWE, opened up about his early career and the various gimmicks he portrayed before finding success. Nemeth’s journey in WWE began with two unconventional roles that tested his commitment and adaptability as a performer.

Nemeth’s first appearance on WWE television was as a golf caddie for Kerwin White, a controversial character played by Chavo Guerrero. However, it was his next gimmick as Nicky in the Spirit Squad faction that truly put his dedication to the test.

Reflecting on the transition to the cheerleader gimmick, Nemeth shared his initial reaction and mindset.

I always assumed you got one shot in WWE. If you get two, then man I can’t wait to see what it is. F***ing cheerleaders! Oh God, ok great. Let’s see what happens.

Despite the unexpected nature of the role, Nic Nemeth approached it with a positive attitude and full commitment.

Luckily I had this mentality and most people in the group also did which was I don’t know if this is it, let’s make it an 11 out of 10 and give everything we got even if it feels embarrassing, even if it feels weird to commit to this bit no matter what because this was all of our dreams to get here so let’s try and make something happen.

The Spirit Squad’s dedication paid off, as they enjoyed a successful run in WWE. The group achieved notable success during their time together, capturing the Tag Team Championships and engaging in a high-profile feud with the iconic D-Generation X duo of Triple H and Shawn Michaels.

And we did, we all committed to it, we almost had an exact 12-month run and then it was over. And it wasn’t like we didn’t get to use any momentum, it was just, it was over you know.

Following the disbandment of the Spirit Squad in late 2006, Nemeth was repackaged in 2008 as Dolph Ziggler, a character he would portray for the next 15 years in WWE. This new gimmick proved to be a turning point in his career, leading to significant achievements including winning the Money in the Bank contract and becoming a two-time world champion.

Nic Nemeth’s journey from a golf caddie to a cheerleader and finally to the Show-Off persona of Dolph Ziggler showcases the unpredictable nature of professional wrestling careers and the importance of making the most of every opportunity. His willingness to fully commit to each role, regardless of its nature, ultimately paved the way for his long-term success in WWE.

Now as Nic Nemeth in TNA, he continues to build upon the legacy he established in WWE, bringing his wealth of experience and adaptability to a new stage in his wrestling career.

Nic Nemeth Says He Was Relieved To Finally Escape The Bubble Of WWE

In a recent interview, Nic Nemeth said he was thankful that WWE gave him a chance to get out of the company where he became famous, and allow him to explore working other wrestling promotions, such as currently being one of the top names in TNA.
