TNA Star Impressed WWE Bosses During Recent NXT Appearance

Triple H WWE

A popular TNA star has made a big impression in WWE.

At NXT Battleground, Trick Williams did what was once unthinkable. With victory over Joe Hendry, he became the first WWE contracted star to become the TNA World Champion.

The title change sent shockwaves through TNA, and Mike Santana had already made it known that he was keen to step up and face whoever emerged victorious. This saw a match made for May 27 between NXT’s Tavion Heights and Santana.

When all was said and done, Santana got the win, but he quickly turned his attention to a bigger prize. The former AEW star interrupted a championship celebration held by Williams and promised to take the title back to TNA.

TNA Director of Authority Santino Marella then appeared on the video screen to make the match official for June 3.

Mike Santana Impressing WWE Figures

As reported by Mike Johnson of PWInsider, Santana got “high marks” backstage in NXT, while the star praised the company for being open and onboard with his presentation.

While there’s been no talk of Santana moving to WWE, the partnership between the two companies has already given a path for others to do so. Back in January, Jordynne Grace officially became a WWE Superstar after making several appearances in NXT, while Joe Hendry is expected to sign with the company when his TNA contract expires.
