TNA’s Parent Company Issues Statement After Gail Kim Firing
TNA Wrestling has undergone more restructuring.
On March 25, it was announced that TNA Wrestling had fired several members of management including Gail Kim. According to the company, Ariel Shnerner, Rob Kligman, and Michael Shewchenko were also given their marching orders.
The departure of Kim caught the entire industry by surprise, with fans and insiders alike expressing their shock and disappointment at the news. The legend is widely regarded as one of the most important figures in modern women’s wrestling having played a key role in the creation of the Knockouts division, as well as pushing for equality across the board.
Kim began working with TNA in 2005 as an in-ring performer before becoming an influential backstage figure when her wrestling career came to an end.
TNA Bosses Issue Statement
As the backlash against the firings gathers pace on social media, Mike Johnson of PWInsider shared a statement from Anthem Sports Group President Carlos Silva. TNA Wrestling has been a subsidiary of Anthem Sports since early 2017.
“Today, we announced a restructuring, resulting in staffing changes at TNA Wrestling. These decisions are always difficult, but it became apparent that we needed to make adjustments to our business strategies. We are grateful for those who worked here and thank them for their years of dedication to the company.
Finally, we want our fans to know that we are committed to producing the absolute best product and highest-quality content that we can, and we appreciate their continued support.”
Although Kim nor any of those let go have commented publicly, TNA stars such as Steph De Lander and Tasha Steelz have already expressed their disappointment at the news.
In recent months, the likes of Jordynne Grace, Josh Alexander, “Speedball” Mike Bailey, PCO, Trent Seven, Christy Hemme, Josh Matthews and more have all left the company. During this period, it was reported that several TNA stars were let go because it was felt they were overpaid.
